There is a gap in music right now. Very few artists have stepped up to deliver vital, original, head-turning rock music on a national level for five years now. Loyal Frisby fills that gap. This band’s sound, coupled with their unique approach to catchy songwriting is facilitating a new demand in American music. In much the same way that Nirvana took control of the airwaves, Loyal Frisby’s inspired songwriting stops conversations and turns up volume knobs.
Loyal Frisby’s sound rocks with clean instrumentation and pure, soaring vocals. While the sound of this band eludes easy classification, some listeners have made references to Ben Folds Five, The Pixies, REM, For Squirrels, and Radiohead. The songs stand alone as poignant, emotion-filled expressions of life, finding not only a place in the listener’s mind, but also in the listener’s heart. Each song develops uniquely, bringing emotion and melody vibrantly crashing together in the most surprising ways.
As a lively, forward-thinking group from the college town of Gainesville, Florida, this band has established themselves as mainstays in the Southeast music scene. The band was just named “Best Live Band” and “Best Overall” by the largest college newspaper in the country. Formerly known as The Go, Loyal Frisby has built a following and created a buzz that is growing exponentially.
Throughout its first few years, the band’s membership fluctuated while Loyal Frisbie’s first projects toured regionally and included the CD release of Live From Your House. By 1996, membership changes found Loyal performing by himself wearing his acoustic guitar and an angel costume. As you can imagine, he cut quite a memorable figure, quickly drawing attention to himself, and quickly gaining attention from bass player, Andy Dupree. Determined to push forward and promote themselves within the Gainesville music scene, Loyal Frisby recruited drummer Adam Lesko. They have since immersed in an evolution noted by their quick release of Autumn Leaves, a four-song EP, and Singing the songs of my heart at the top of my lungs their first full-length album.
Loyal Frisby has just finished the production on their second full-length album, The Escape. The album is being released on Velvet Records and distributed through Redeye Distribution with special arrangements for in-store listening stations within each market the band performs.
These impressive studio accomplishments together with their high-energy live shows and quick development of a solid fan base within the Southeast’s best venues will see them join the other acts that have grown out of the Florida/Gainesville music scene as they continue to impress each listener.
Among the telltale signs of this band’s destiny to invigorate popular music, Loyal Frisby receives regular airplay on WRUF (100,000 watts), WRRX, and WUFT. Additionally, Loyal Frisby has shared the stage with high profile acts such as Jump Little Children (Atlantic Records), Subrosa (Sony Records), Uncle Mingo, Dirty Poodle, Noah’s Red Tattoo, Chad Jasmine, and more.
