*there used to be clips on this page, but i took them down.
because the purpose of acousticvids is to accurately chronicle the music scene as a video news magazine, as opposed to be a PR vehicle for artists like a “fan site”, i generally don’t let artists pick and choose which clips go up or not based on what they like. that’s not true to the spirit of journalism, either print or video.
however, i do give artists the option to opt out of participation entirely if they just really hate the way the clips make them sound.
up until now, that’s been a theoretical option - i’m guessing because most artists feel that having a page on a website that attracts anywhere from 50,000 to 100,000 hits a months consisting almost entirely of singer/songwriter fans is more beneficial than trying to hide a few clips in which they don’t sound as good as they think they usually do? or possibly because most artists also understand that now, in the youtube age, chances are really good you’re gonna taped when you play. worry when no one cares enough to tape. lol.
anyway, this page is living proof that participation in acousticvids is optional…and now that’s not just theoretical.*
